vCenter 5 - Unable to retrieve health data from https://......

Hello all,

I am getting the following error:  Unable to retrieve health data from https://Rinkoff.local:10443/secure /health

I opened the necessary port on the firewall, tried the vCenter Server 5.0 suggestion from VMware and restarted services to no avail.  I also tried to connect to my virtual center referenced by: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=2009934 but am getting an "cannot connect" error.

I had a similar issue with vCenter Management Webservices but I changed the Rinkoff.local to my vCenter IP and it fixed the issue.  If I could change Rinkoff.local to the vCenter IP (which I hoped to do with the aforementioned kb article) then I think it would fix the problem

Does anybody have a fix or workaround I can try?

Thanks!

Have you tried pointing a web browser directly at the URL to see if the XML is displayed? Many of the web service related issues with vCenter are related to SSL thumbprint mismatches. Try connecting to the ADAM instance using the LDP tool outlined in http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1025010 and confirm the thumbprint listed matches the thumbprint of the SSL returned by the web page when you access it directly. Also, take a look at the vws.log file. It might help pinpoint your issue.

Thank you but I found that when I changed the host file to reflect IP to domain it fixed the issue.
