vCenter 5.5 u3 migration to VCSA 6.5 u3 fails at stage 2: Starting VMware Postgres

Hi,

I'm trying to migrate our vCenter 5.5 u3 currently on Windows 2012 R2 to VCSA 6.5 u3 but it fails during Part 2 of the migration at Starting VMware Postgres (screenshots attached).

Wonder if anyone can give me some pointers to which log files to comb through to see if there are any hints to why its failing?

The log file the migration tool references isn't too helpful:

2023-05-25T13:38:54.926Z Upgrade import step failed
2023-05-25T13:38:54.935Z vPostgres firstboot(action=firstboot) failed

Thanks in advance.

Russ.

Yes, I would try with Small VCSA. And (if you don't need it) copy only configuration and inventory, without tasks, events and performance metrics.

How much memory do you have on vCenter? Try to increase memory to 16GB or more, and try again.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, do you mean the target Windows vCenter 5.5 or setting the VCSA as 'Small' or 'Medium' rather than 'Tiny'?

Thanks in advance.

Russ.
