vCenter 4.1 to 5.1 SQL Upgrade Issue

hi

I want to upgrade my vCenter server  from 4.1 to 5.1 ,my database is SQL server 2005 sp3.

my question do i need to upgrade  my SQL to sp4 ?  (i prefer not  Smiley Happy)

Hello and welcome to the communities.

You don't have to, but SP4 on SQL 2005 is what is supported for use with vCenter Server 5.1. Its a question of whether or not you wanted a supported configuration. With that being said, I personally prefer supported configs.

what do you mean  by say "supported configuration"

My understanding of "supported configuration" means one that VMware has tested and confirms to work as expected. If you call in for support with a fully supported configuration, you should expect no issues receving help.
