vCenter 4.1 / VCB 1.5

Hi there!

As it is documented in the vSphere Compatibility Matrixes vCenter 4.1 supports VCB 1.5 U2 ONLY with ESX 4.1 hosts.

Is that because they just didnt have time to test it till now or would it never support ESX 4.0 or 3.5 hosts?

And if they never support it - how should a migration work form ESX 3.5 or 4.0 to 4.1?

cheers

Yes,,, VMWARE could have thought about it. Otherwise, they should publish some insight on how to migrate them.

Even I was in search some documents for the upgradation.

I just stopped searching as I can wait for a while until i hear that 4.1 is stable Smiley Happy

Document remain the same... no other version as been tested... strange...

But remember that the VCB is near his end of life...

If you plan to upgrade to upgrade to 4.1 you have to upgrade VCB to 1.5U2.

If you leave some hosts with old version (why?) you can still try to use VCB 1.5U2 on them, for example by pointing directly to the host instead on the vCenter (but probably works also if you point to the vCenter).

Its just for the time of the upgrade - for migration we have to connect all ESX 3.5 Hosts to the new vCenter and then upgrade them to ESX 4.x. The upgrade wouldnt be done during one day so we need VCB on ESX 3.5 hosts as well.
