Is it possible to storage vmotion the vcenter server.

Seperetae database server on windows 2003

The vcenter server on windows 2008 R2 server needs to be svmotioned.I do not have to storage vmotion database server at this time.

If this can be done, steps on how to do this safely are appreciated.

no - storage vmotion is done with vm live  - in fact if you were to power down the vcenter vm then you would not be able to vmoyion or storage vmotion -

Yes you can !

Same as any other VM so there should be no issues.
Some issues might be very high I/O on SQL but seeing it’s on a different VM means that will not be a problem

You should always have a backup in place, no matter what you attempt to do :smileycool:

Thank you for the information. Is it required to power off the vcenter virtual machine before doing storage vmotion.
