snmp trap when alarm returns to green

Hi,

We want to monitor uptime in vmware with SCOM by monitoring among other thing storage connectivity. We want to send a trap both when an problem occurs AND when it its solved. We have tried using the "Cannot connect to storage" and "Host error" alarms and defined that a trap shall be sent on every status change. So far we recieve a trap when we disconnect the FC fiber cable, but when we plug it back in and the datastores connect again, no traps are sent from vCenter (according to the event log).

We have played around with most of the settings available on those two alarms, but still we only recieve traps when things go down.. Any clues anyone??

We are on 4.1 on both vCenter and ESX

Regards

After the fiber is back in and all working, try to go to the host's alarms and "Acknowledge" or "Reset to Green" and see if you get your snmp trap.

It sounds like like you would want this all to be automatic, but with most alarms the alarm will stay triggered until user intervention acknowledges it

Just my thoughts :smileycool:
