my vcenter is installed on a VM.
i want to migrate the vCenter to a different storage LUN
is it possible to achieve this? the vCenter from where I am initiating this sVMotion is the VM which i am moving.
it failed a couple of times for me. was just wondering if there are any dependecies anywhere!
there shouldnt be a reason why it doesnt move over just because its a vcenter server.
maybe there are other reasons.
do you get any errors that show up?
post up your logs.
edit:
just tried it on my own server
works fine.
its something else on your end.

Should work fine , are you getting any errors when you are trying to do svmotion. Am sure all the svmotion requirements are met in your infra.
thank you both of you for your replies .. thanks for the quick POC ... you rock man ...
i realised later that i was running a heavy test workload on the storage which was generating more than 4000 IOPS .... that cause a lot of bottleneck on the storage and eventually the sVMotion to probably timeout and hang.
i stopped the workload and the sVMotion completed successfully.
