restart vCenter VM in HA

Hi all

Configuration:

- 2 server vSphere standard

- 1 vCenter Foundation in VM in HA cluster

The HA Best Practices state that it's better to disable on the hosts "Virtual Machine Startup and Shutdown".

What happen if I shutdown both the ESX server and then power on the first (for example: a power outage, shutdown directed by UPS software) ? The vCenter VM does't start: correct ?

There's a way to automatically restart the vCenter in this situation ? And then if possible the other VM ?

Many thanks and regards

Max

From a cold boot, you can adjust the startup/shutdown behavior (BSA Guide page 140) If both hosts shut down then this is not considered an HA event and HA controls will not apply, it will be as if you are booting from a cold start. If you want the vSphere VM to reboot during a HA event, adjust the settings in the HA cluster options for that particular VM.
