does anyone know the procedure to change the database username/password in vcenter 4.0 ?
See those KB:

seems this kb is for vcenter 2.5.x , in vcenter 4 i can reset password with vpxd.exe -p , but cant find where to change username , the registry entry in that kb doesnt exist in vcenter 4.0 installation.
Yeah, the repair option is not available in VC4. What version of windows? Is it 64bit?

Have you tried to change the username in the ODBC connection?
Andre
changing username in odbc has no effect , yes , vcenter 4 only works in windows 64-bit i think ..
vCenter can work both on 32 and 64bit systems

The user name and password for an ODBC connection are not stored in the connector itself. The credentials you provide there are for the setup of the connection only.
We did not change the registry key for vCenter. the Key is still:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware VirtualCenter\DB
The reason I asked if it was a 64bit OS before was because if it is than you may be looking at the 64bit registry. The 32bit registry is under the following node.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432node
If you load up the 32bit version of regedit you will likely see it properly.
