pre-check tool fails to run on Windows 2008 R2 64bit?

Hi, is there any perequisites you need before running the pre-check tool for the VCenter 4.1 installation CD or zip file ? I tried to launch autorun.exe and choose the pre-check tool but it just immediately fails. Any thoughts on why this would happen ? Thanks,

Hi,

Have you tried to rightclick and run it as administrator? Or just turned the UAC off during the installation.

Ok, it seems like the user you running as don´t have the right permissions to the databaseserver. Give your 2008R2 server (domain\machinename$) dbo access to the virtual center database.

I had a similar issue with upgrading from Vcenter 4.0 to Vcenter 5.x.  Doing a migration.

under vCenter Server Database Patch and Configuration Requirements,

(We are running MS SQLServer 2005), Ensure that the machine has a valid ODBC DSN entry.

So I went to the target server and added an entry to the Data Sources (ODBC), under System DSN,
