patch, update

vCenter 4; I don't seem to be able to patch or update any 3.5 servers only 4.0.

vCenter does not have back compatibility?

Yes vCenter 4 and Update Manager 4 are fully backward compatible.

What issues/errors are you getting?

Have you configured VUM to download also ESX 3.x patches?

That must be it.

I have not, assumed it was backward smart. So how do I configure it?

create a new baseline for 3.x patches and attach it to the host(s) or cluster and remediate against that.

Yes, correct. But if you have 3.x Hosts this should be already checked.

In update manager, events, it shows a stage and remediate entry. Does that mean it completed a patch run, ? Is there another command to issue?
