vSphere 4 Enterprise
I am trying to connect two Dell R710 servers to a Dell MD3000i. I followed the instructions from here: http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/solutions/md3000i_esx_deploy_guide.pdf
I set up both hosts exactly the same; however the second one I set up does not see the iSCSI target when I rescan.
One thing that I thought was strange is that when configuring host access in the Dell Modular Disk Storage Manager, I had to manually copy/paste the second host's iSCSI initiator name - whereas the first host's initiator autmatically showed up.
Here is a link to a diagram of my setup: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2617/3681073383_e2cdb9da50_o.jpg
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I'm still having problems with this - anyone have any suggestions?
I put in the IP address of the MD3000i in the dynamic discovery tab, but nothing ever shows up on the static discovery. My other host's static discovery tab lists every host port on the array. Not sure what is going on with the second host.
I'm using a dual subnet configuration. When I changed the second host's iSCSI vmkernel IP to an address in the same subnet as the first host, I can see the storage. Why would that happen? Anyone?
I switched the iSCSI VMKernel IP back to the original subnet, and now it works....
maybe in case of some troubles you should use 3d party iSCSI target?
