I tried to install the VMtools by clicking the install in automatic way from outside the VM (right click...) on vm's that are in 3.5 update 2 host with VC update 2 server, (it looks stuck...more than 2 hours)
I have administrator permission on the farm, and I still can not cancle that task (it's gray)
any idea?
That's just the script. You have to cancel it inside the VM. Change your settings for the vmx files so they don't install VM tools upgrade each time a VM starts, if they are getting stuck.
Then you can right click the VM, and click "end tools install". That will stop the script for that VM, but if the tools are already in progress, that won't stop them from installing..
I would go into the VM and see what state it's in. If it looks like the tools are done, shutdown the VM and then see if you can end the VM tools installer.
the only thing that helped was to restart the vmware server service
