handshake failed for mks

I am having an issue with a VM. VC is at site 1, running version 2.01. ESX box is running 3.01, and is at site B. They are 40 miles apart, connected via high speed link. When I try to console to a vm, the only vm that shows this issue, I get the handshake failed message. When I try to shut the VM off inside VIC, it goes to 95% and just sits there.

When trying to power off the VM from the COS. I get the following error.

vmware-cmd DTDCSKAPP01.vmx stop

VMControl error -999: Unknown error: SoapError: ServerFaultCode(1604) : (Operation failed since another task is in progress.)

Problem corrected itself.
