failed to start disk migration

I am try to storage vmotion a VM. The VM has RDMs. When attempting to do so....

"a general system error occurred: failed to start disk migration"

any ideas?

Hi,

what Type of raw devices?

Physical or Virtual?

It is not recommended to do Storage vMotion with RDM's. Please refer www.kb.vmware.com/kb/1005241.

They are raw devices but the issue has been resolved. A LUN was deleted from the SAN prior to the corresponding raw disk and mapping being deleted from the VM. This was causing us a number of issues with the server which at first we did not realize were related. Once the we removed the disk and mapping, the storage vmotion ran without issue.

I'm not seeing anything in that KB that recommends against using storage vmotion on VMs that have RDMs. The process is fully supported. Is there something I'm missing?
