default alarms in vCenter

how can I change the threshold on default alarms in vCenter?

Hi,

select the vcenter in the right hand side pane (which is the most upper entry). The most alarms are defined there and you can only edit alarm definitions at the object where they are defined.

Click on the "Alarm" register card then "Definitions". Right click the alarm definition you want to change the threshold (e.g. Datastore usage) then register card "Trigger". Here you can change the thresholds.

the default alarm for our Datastore is set to go to red when the threshold is at 85%.   We don't use snapshots so I would like to set the threshold higher at about 90% or 95%.

i would advise of going yellow at 80% and read at 90%, at least it gives you ample time at 80% to get thing resorted. you might have accidentally turned on snapshot (via backup) and you need almost twice the size to commit it back.
