cant create vm - hung on "in progress"

I have an esxi 4.1.0 host and W2k3 server with 4.0 client. When trying to create a new vm, it hangs at "in progress"

I can use the client directly to the host, after the message saying this host is controlled by a vcenter server, I can sucessfully create a VM

Tried restarting the client, and even the host - no luck

Anyone have any ideas?

first, if using ESXi 4.1, make sure your client is upgraded to 4.1 as well. Also, if using vCenter check to ensure there are no issues with your database. Could be that your transaction logs have gotten large.
