cannot log into a linux vm that has been reverted to a snap shot

I have a linux vm that uses ldap for most login authentication. When I take a snapshot -- i have no problem. Whe i revert to the snap shot, i can not log in with accounts that authenticate with ldap, but i can log in with those that authenticate locally.

Restarting the sshd service does not fix the problem. A reboot is necessary. Anyone else have this issue?

There should be a change made after this snapshots that cause this issue.

It could be a need for certificate renewal?

How is the ldap authenticated?

Well, since this is fhte first time that I've ever had this problem, I think it is something that is being changed from this vm to the server.

We use pam to authenticate with a remote ldap server. The person making changes is doing stuff ldap (isolated to his application) and ssl so it could be something along those lines.

Once we reboot the situation resolves itself.

The reboot shouldn't solve authentication problems.

Do you find any useful info in the logs?

When you revert log in locally and make sure time is sync'ed between the guest and your LDAP server.
