cannot connect to VM console via VPN connection but everything else works

We reconfigured our VMware environment to use VLANs and can no longer get to the VM console when connected via VPN. Of course it used to work prior to the changes. Smiley Happy

Also works fine on the LAN. And I can do other tasks like shutdown the guest OS.

We don't do any port limitations on the VPN appliance or firewall for inbound VPN connections.

Attached is the error.

ESX 3.0.2 and vcenter 2.0.2

Thanks.

Usualy this comes from TCP port 903 is not open, you say there are no port limitations, but i would check that once again.

Otherwise, are you connected over a very very slow link ? Maybe try to activate RDP on the VC server and run VC from the VC server instead of having a VC client connect to the vc server over a slow link.

Hi Thomas,

I read in an older post about ports 902 & 903 but it didn't say if that was on the vihost (via its firewall) or at the main firewall. Which are you referring to?

RDP works fine.
