adding ESXi to vCenter failing

Team,

I am trying to add ESXi to vCenter but it is failing. The error in vCenter is simply giving to check dns or credential but esxi is giving below error:

haTask-ha-folder-root-vim.hostLocalAccountManager.createUser-171764421

root is already exist.

vCenter version: 

Version6.5.0

Build17590285

ESXi Version: 

 Esxi_6.5.0 (Build 4887370)
Esxi_6.5.0 Update 2 (Build 8294253)

Any clue why esxi is not able to add in vCenter.

One more point is that the ESXI version/build# is higher than vCenter. I think it may be one of reason?

Hi,

The vCenter version is higher than that of the Esxi hosts for which it is compatible.

  • vCenter Server 6.5u3n
  • ESXi 6.5 U2 GA
  • ESXi 6.5.0 a
