access to VM configuration files

hello I am using Vcenter 2.5 with ESX3.5 with a nas for data sharing

My question is related to the access of the VM files

the only solution I have now is to access those files throw VCenter but I can not modify or view a file without downloading it first to my station from datastore browser

and an other issue is that I can not delete folders and so I can not delete files from failed migrations with vcenter converter

What are the other solutions to be able to have a full access to those files?

I am thinking of giving rights to my station on the nas but partitions are formated with vmfs is that compatible with nfs? read and write?

do not hesitate to share if you have documents about the subject of working with VM files

You can delete folders from the root of the Datastore browser.

For managing your vm files take a look at SCP tools(WinSCP, VeemFastSCP,..)

and of course the ServiceConsole trough the common unix and vmfsktool commands

hi,

Here is a document that will get you started with the service console:

I looked at it, and my first thoughts was that there must be a better document to get you started. But it was all I could find by now.

(I know I have a vmware publication but can't seem to find it)

Hope this will get you started then Smiley Wink
