All,
I am new to VMware.
On a server in a lab environment, I installed the ESXi OS. After configuring the ESXi host and establishing remote connectivity to the ESXi host, I installed the vCenter Server Appliance on the same ESXi host.
How do I find the location of the vCenter Server Appliance database on the ESXi host? What drive was it installed on? How to do I find the location of the ESXi OS on the Dell server? What drive was it installed on?
Thank you,
T.J.
1. vCenter appliance is a SUSE server having vcenter application and its database embedded in it. It is inside the virtual appliance. You may access the appliance via ssh once you configure it.
2. ESXi host will be generally installed on your local driver or based on the location you choose while installing the ESXi host.
Sureshkumar,
Thank you for the quick reply. However, I want to ensure I know the exact installation location of the ESXi OS and the vCenter Server Appliance database.
Using the vSphere Client, I connected to the vCenter Server Appliance.
I selected the ESXi host>Configuration>Storage>Devices
I selected Local Dell Disk (naa.60024e805c68900020e816381af4fbf6)
Look at Devices, I see Local Dell Disk (naa.xxx......fbf6) = vmhba1:C2:T0:L0 and its capacity is 135 GB.
Looking at the Device Details, I see Primary Partitions, I see various data about the size of partitions
Again, using the vSphere Client, I connected to the vCenter Server Appliance.
I selected the ESXi host>Configuration>Storage>Devices
This time, I selected the other Local Dell Disk (naa.60024e805c68900020e8167a1eee30e6)
When I look at the Device Details, I do NOT see a Primary Partitions.
So, when I installed the ESXi OS it installed on Disk 0 of my server? Also, when I installed vCenter Server Appliance, it also installed on Disk 0 of my server?
I have attached screen prints.
