What rights to convert a WS vm into a resource pool ?

Hello,

This subject must have been covered somewhere but I can't find my solution...

I have a "new" (it was installed some time ago but not used...) vCenter server on Windows (no domain). I created local users so I can set their rights in vCenter using the vSphere client.

One of these users, whom I thought giving "resource pool administrator" right to would be correct, wants to use VMWare Converter to put VMs in the resource pool I, as a full administrator, created for him. But it doesn't want to work... 😞

He gets an error message saying something like "it's impossible to use an inventory object disconnected from destination" (sorry my original message is in French).

What should I do? Which privileges/rights shall I give him? I don't understand much to right administration in VMWare vCenter...! Is there a good doc somewhere, with some use cases/best practises maybe?!

Thanks for your help.

Syl

Hi

You can use the Move-VM cmdlet to put a VM in a resource pool.

Move-VM -VM VM -Destination ResourcePool
