To the best of my knowledge, we are using vCenter Server 5.0 U1.

Build number is 623373 in Help | About.

What is the version of the included/embedded SQL Server Express -- 2008??

How do I find out and verify??

I need to know specifically which version of SQL Server Express Management Studio to install on our vCenter Server so I can start running maintenance such as backups which will truncate the logs, and also to enable more log storage, we are getting the 9002 error pertaining to log storage.

vCenter Server 5.0 uses Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express as the bundled datasbase.
