What is the average size of a snapshot relative to the VM size?

I'm curisous if there is an average size, percentage wise, of a snapshot relative to it's other virtual machine files.  Anyone?

I'm trying to gage how much space I'll need to acommodate them. Also if I can't accomodate snapshots in the same directoy as the rest of the virtual machine files, how would I point snapshots to a different datastore?

Basically snapshots start at zero and increase as they are used. Snapshots should be very short term and so should not become large.

Hi,

The moment you create a snapshot the minimum size allocated to the delta.vmdk is 16M and it grows as per the usage. You second question is answered in http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1002929 but I wouldnt recommend this unless and untill you have a dedicated datastore for snapshots.
