VmConverter and Update manager unable to install

Hi all,

We just upgraded our VC from 2.0.2 to 2.5 had a few problems but made it through. While we were doing the upgrade both Vmconver and update manager failed to install. I tried it again today and if failed again. One of the errors we got was Internal Error 25089 and 25038 that was for converter.

On another subject not sure if some one can answer this one. On a Client when you go into edit settings > CD-Rom and you click on browse you can not longer point to anything other then the datastore. So you have manually put in a path to an ISO image what's up with that and is there a work around?

Thanks all.

Hello,

There are some permission issues with VC2.5

See this post http://communities.vmware.com/message/886427 as it may relate to your issue.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the help, but it does not pertain to me as I am the vcadmin on the Enterprise so I should have God rights accross the system. Our problem is not that I can not mount the CD-Rom it is that we are unable to see anything other then the Datastore when we browse to locate ISO images. I am able to type the direct path into the box but not able to browse to the location. We had not problem in past version of the VC so I am not sure what they changed to casuse this problem, but I sure hope they fix it as it is a real pain.

This is a somewhat old post so I am guessing it was resolved but for others... the issue I came across was that the password I was using on my admin account had a special character in it. Apparently your password can only have normal alphanumeric characters...a-z A-Z 0-9. Why this limitation is there is baffling to me but ya, changed my password and the install works fine.
