I need to configure virtual center in a Microsoft cluster configuration.
I would install on the same Microsoft cluster both VirtualCenter and SQL server, but I red that I have to use two different clusters.
Is this a requirement or a recommendation?
Have someone installed all in once?
Thanks,
Pina
This is an answre
Sorry, I made a mistake! I'm waiting for your answers
Yes you can do only one cluster.
I have a doc VCMSCSTechNote-+Seva.doc about Clustering VC but can't find the internet link now.
I don't see any show stoppers. You could even have an active/active setup so they are only on the same node in the event of a failure.
Ok, you say that it works, but is it supported?
Of course. The solution and document was provided by our VMWare TAM.
Could you give me that document? Is it a public one?
Thanks a lot,
Pina
gimme you e-mail address via private message and I'll send it to you.
There is a web version now:
Thanks, I saw that document and I red on it about a cluster dedicated to DB and another cluster dedicated to Virtualcenter, but I think it's a suggestion and not a requirement.
Thanks a lot.
Oh yes. It's a suggestion. Depending on your own infrastructure you can choose:
1) VC in a vm
2) VC in a physical machine with MSDE
3) VC in a pm with separate DB server
4) VC cluster with separate DB server
5) VC cluster with separate DB cluster
How many money do you want to spent?
How critical is your Virtual Infrastructure?
