Question: I upgraded a host and I tried to add it back into VC 2 infrastructure in which I receive the following error message: "The host is already connected to this VirtualCenter server". The problem is that it is not in the inventory.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
TG
Are the hostd and vpxa services running on the ESX server? Can you connect direct to the ESX server with the VI Client? If so you might try restarting the VC service on the VC server.
service --status-all |grep running
You should see a vmware-hostd (mgmt-vmware) and vmware-vpxa service running.
Try restarting the mgmt-vmware and vmware-vpxa services on the ESX server.
service mgmt-vmware restart
service vmware-vpxa restart

Eric - thanks for the quick repsonse but unfortunately that did not help. After the error message, the host shows up in VC but is greyed out with (disconnected) behind the hostname.....

Eric - you're the man! Restarting the VirtualCenter server fixed the problem.
Thanks So much!
