Virtual center 2.5 Database question, SQL transaction logs

running ESX 3.5 and virtual center 2.5 the database (SQL 2005) which is set to Simple recovery mode and it is scheduled to dump nightly which we then backup. I'm not a Database admin so was wondering why the Transaction Log file for the virtual center keeps growing I was under the impression that when you set a database to simple recovery model it did not use the transaction log, is there any way to reduce the size of the transaction log for virtual center?

I've got two Microsoft links for you that might be helpful.

How to shrink transaction logs in SQL: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907511

How to stop the transaction logs from growing big in the first place: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873235

Hope these help..
