Virtual Infrastructure Client 2.0 Authenticates with VC in clear text?

Now Ive got VIC 2.0 installed, I type in my Active Directory Account Credentials, and log into my VC server. My question is the following:

Does the client transmit my credentials across the network in clear text?

No, all communication between VIC, VC and ESX are encrypted. See http://pubs.vmware.com/vi301/server_config/sc_security_servcon.17.11.html

Is the connection to AD secure because VC is running on a Windows box?

I ask because my impression was that in order to authenticate against AD without sending clear text one needed to establish a secure connection with AD, and that to do so involved getting the certificate from the AD and placing it on the other system. This is assuming the other system is running Linux.

Anyway, I would really like to hear a bit more about how this is being handled. The link that was provided by an earlier poster did not actually answer the original poster's question.

Thanks
