Virtual Center allow creation of duplicate VM inside same DC?

Today I found weird thing that VC allow you to create duplicate VM inside same virtual center. I was under impression that you can not have duplicate VM inside same datacenter. If you. If you point VM object towards different folder under "Virtual Machine and template" you can have two VM with same name. It should not allow you to do so? Is it kind of bug ? If yes which build it has been corrected?

I am currently on VC2.5 B64192

Thanks,

Vikash

VM name in VC could be different from VM hostname (inside the guest OS).

It's true that VC could know the hostname with VMware Tools.

But VC guarantee only the unique name in VC inventory (and the unique VM UUID).
