Virtual Center - ESX3.5 and ESX 2.5 - no availiable licences

Hi Guys.

We have bought a Virtual Center 2.5 and installed on a dedicated server.

All our ESX hosts is going to be connected to this VC.

But only the ESX 3.5 is connected, all the ESX 2.5 is displayed "disconnected".

When we try to connect, we get a error message "Not enough licences installed to perform that operation.

When the VC was installed and in "Eval-mode" everything worked fine.

In our farm we have:

2 ESX 3.5 (2 cpu)

2 ESX 2.5 (2 cpu)

1 ESX 2.5 (8 cpu)

The ESX 3.5 has the VC Agent licence "build-in", but the ESX 2.5 VC Agent is a stand-alone product with a serial number.

How do we activate the old VC Agents in Virtual Center 2.5 ????????

Hi,

Probablly you just have one licence for 1 CPU, you need one licence per Physical CPU for each ESX that you want to connect to VC.

Under the Administration menu item in the vCenter menu, open up the Virtualcenter Management Server Configuration, and the first selection is called License Server. Uncheck the last setting to change the license setting of the host to match the vCenter server. This will allow you to use both license files and license bouiht via Serial Number.
