Virtual Center 2.0.1: Configuring Mail Sender Settings

Hi,

Can anybody explain how to config Virtual Center 2.0.1 Build 40644 "Configuring Mail Sender Settings"?

First I config Alarm Settings:

-> Host&Clusters -> Alarms -> Definitions -> Alarm Settings -> Send a notification e-mail ( all green yellow and red states )

Second I config Mail Server:

-> Administration -> VirtualCenter Managemnt Server Configuration -> Mail

smtp Server: "ip of my smtp server"

Sender Account: "my-Name@smtp-server.com"

A check with "telnet "ip of my smtp server" 25" works fine.

But every time i found in "Event Log" an message: "....faild to send e-mail...."

What`s wrong?

Does your smtp server have any restrictions setup on who can use it. Try a full test with telnet, use your info instead of the email addresses I made up.

I make a telnet test:

220 So i thing my mailserverconnection ist ok.

Not sure why it isn't working then, you can try putting in your server ip:25 in the VC field instead of just the IP. You could also try restarting the VC Server service.
