Viewing the Console Tab in VirtualCenter Times Out unless Proxied

After a new, clean install of VI 3.5 and VC 2.5 Update 1, everything works great except the console tab for the VMs. When I click on the console tab, it times out. The only way I can get it to work is to use this command: vmauthd.server.alwaysProxy="TRUE"

This forces communication over port 902 instead of 903. However I don't know of anything that would be blocking port 903. Is there anything else that could be causing this communication error or conflicting with the console port?

Just an FYI... A VMware technician made some changes to the ESX Host's firewall settings and everything appeared to work correctly from then on. His changes appeared redundant, as if he really didn't change anything, but it made it work.

I read somewhere this error at times when the memory available in the VM was extremely low. That might explain why it went away on its own.
