Vcenter on VM or on Dedicated Server?

I have a decent Poweredge wth 2008r2 installed I was considering installing Vcenter on to free up some resources on an ESXi server where I currently have it installed. Is this best practice? Bad practice?

vCenter running on a physical server or as a VM is supported either way.  The benefits of a VM is that you don't have to worry about hardware failures.  Your vCenter VM is protected by HA and can utilize DRS features as well.

If your ESXi Host doesn't have the capacity to run another VM, whether its vCenter or otherwise, you may look to purcahse new hardware for your ESXi Infrastructure.

Plus, it's always good to eat your own dog food.  Smiley Happy
