Vcenter and Windows 2008r2 foundation ed.

Hy guys,

I will install Vcenter in a small environment with only 2 esx host.

Have someone install Vcenter on Microsoft Windows server 2008r2 foundation edition?

Does it work fine?

Thanks a lot!

I see no reason why you couldn't run vCenter 4.1 on R2 foundation.

Officially is not supported, because is not listed in:

http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_compatibility_matrix.pdf

Tecnically it may work (if work on Win7 can work also on it).

I looked at the document and it does not exclude Server 2008 R2 Foundation from the text.

It is confusing as it only lists Server 2008 R2 as being compatible and does not specify any edition (Foundation, Small Business, Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter).

I have been attempting to find the answer to this question for two weeks, and no one at vmWare (sales department) seems to have a clue.  I have also been unable to find any documentation that excludes Server 2008 R2 Foundation.
