Vcenter Services not starting

I have  producation vsphere 4.0 with SQL express running on same server (windows 2008 std)

My Vceter service & vcenter web access services are not coming up. all other services (SQL, update manager, converter, vmware tools) are up and running. i have tried rebooted the server as well but that too did not fix the issue.

below are the error i found in system logs.

The VMware VirtualCenter Server service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Application log error:

error1053: this service did not respond to the start or control request in a timly fashion
Faulting application vpxd.exe, version 4.0.7797.0, time stamp 0x49f2a3c0, faulting module deployPkg.dll, version 6.0.6001.18538, time stamp 0x4cb733dc, exception code 0xc0000135, fault offset 0x00009cfc, process id 0xff8, application start time 0x01cc6c7652b3a34b

please help.

I believe there was an issue with 4.0 but has been resolved in 4.0U1.  What version of vCenter are you running?

nothing above worked for me. i have vsphere 4.0.0-162856,

attaching the vpxd logs.

pls help.

finally my issue fixed by Reinstallation - repair of VC using the existing database. no damage in data.
