I've accepted the EULA etc but when I try to configure the DB as embedded on the appliance I get a message uknown pop up after a few minutes.
Does anyone know how to get around this?
Hi,
I have the same issue here. Running vCSA on Workstation 8. Can’t configure the database and the VM is very sluggish. Anyone with the same problem and maybe a solution?
Ragards.
I had same behaviour when I limited memory size of vCenter Appliance's VM to the 1024MB.
This behaviour is gone when memory size was increased to the 3GB value.
Thanks for pointing that out. I'm currently running with 2 GB under Workstation 8. I'll try with more memory.
Regards.
I upped the memory to 2GB and the database then configured.
However I couldn’t connect with the VI client or via https to VC.
Upping the memory to 4GB fixed everything!

I think you must have changed the default values, because I have deployed that appliance 3 times. EVERY time it's set to 8GB. Not sure how you installed it, but you should never change values of an appliance, they are pre-set for a reason.
Hi Paul,
I tried with 4 GB of memory but the vCSA was still sluggish… removing it and importing again with default settings worked for me.
Cheers!
Indeed, just import the OVF with default settings, works like a charm
Thanks!
Regards.
I've been having the same issue
I import the OVF on my esxi 5 box with 4gb of RAM, start it up, agreed to eula, then try to set embedded DB hit save, ,it thinks for a minute or 2, then pops up an box with nothing in it.
