Validation is not applicable at this time.

ESX 3.5

VMware vCentre Server v4.0.0 Build 208111

We have the setup listed above. When we create new VM's we get the message "Validation is not applicable at this time"

Just trying to understand why we get his message. Why is validation not applicable at this time?

Feel free to ask for more info.

Did you just upgrade the vCenter Server?

Can the ESX hosts reach the "old" FlexLM license server?

Hey Andrei, no. It was a fresh install and the hosts were migrated over.

Not sure what you mean by the "old" FlexLM license server? Does it still need to see it?

Yes, as long as you run ESX 3.x hosts you need to provide the license server. You have to add the reference to it in the vCenter 4 license tab.

Thanks for this.

I checked our settings and we do have it in the format in the attached file.

Is this a valid format?

That looks good. Just to make sure licensing is ok, please go to the configuration tab of the 3.5 hosts and check the licensing. Make sure the license mode is set to license server and the licensed features are displayed correctly.

Just to point out. We can create new VM's its just that we get this message.
