VMware vCenter Server Appliance - Linux?

Does anyone happen to know what version of Linux the 5.0 or 5.1 appliance is built with?

I can't find any official documentation but I believe it's SUSE Enterprise 64bit

yes,

I loged inot vCenter and it shows as..Novell SUSE Enterprise 64bit

however,

I cannot conenct to it with a web browser...IE7,

I get back ;;IE cannot dispaly the webpage

SUSE Enterprise 64bit is vCenter Server Appliance

did you check you are able to ping that IP , you have to use with HTTPS  and make sure that port is not use another application check and let me know
