VMware vCenter SDK and integration with Citrix XenDesktop 3

Community

Struggling right now. Please help.

Just needing to integrate XenDesktop with Virtual Center and a clear indication of how to proceed.

I know I need to execute a series of steps but am unsure of how to complete each step:

1. Enable SDK for my vCenter server: https:
myvcserver\sdk

--Please help, not able to start. --Where to find download for SDK. vCenter = 2.5 build 104215 and ESX = 3.5 build 123630

2. To then edit a xml or cfg file to allow https.

--Not able to find more info here.

3. I need to setup certificates on both my vCenter server, XenDesktop DDC server and Provisioning Server.

--I am OK with this last step.

4. Lastly, I will need to place the rui.crt inside a folder on the C: Drive called C:\VMware.

As the community can see, my steps are quite fragmented but I have not found much info at all here.

Please help.

Best regards Jason

1. review your services. When you install VC, you can enable the installation of the Web Service (with a web server). So, look for starting this service (the SDK that you download is for you to develop)

2.- what xml or cfg file you are talking about? it it is associated to VC, then you need to go to the installation folder, usually c:\program files\VMware\VirtualCenter

hope it can point you in the right direction

just in case you need to install it:

http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vc-sdk/

remember it is associated to the VC version

some software requires that you have VC 1.x compatibility

regards and hope it is helpful for you

OK.

I think what I am actually trying to get to the bottom of here is how to get non-ssl SDK web services accessible from the Citrix XenDesktop broker.

The above was helpful thankyou.

Hey Jason,

I need your help. We are planning to implement Xendesktop VDI solution and I am doing research on that and trying to understand the technology. Can you help me with some good whitepapers or docs with steps to implement?

I think you are actively working on this now.

I gone through .

Can you help me with this question?

Virtual Center should be up and running for the Citrix xen desktop vdi solution to work?

I think it works, but I need your comment on this.

Your help will be appreciated. Thanks,

I was searching for the answer to this for awhile as well and I could not find it. Finally I stumbled on a post regarding SSL certificates and Virtual Center.

The SDK is enabled by default for SSL access only. This is configured through the Virtual Center Tomcat Web Server.

You have three options to correct this:

1) Disable the SSL requirement for the SDK

2) Install the out of the box SSL certificates on your Xen servers.

3) Use an internal SSL certificate infrastructure or buy 3rd party SSL certificates for your Virtual Center Server.

For the complete article go here, free registration required to view the whole post.

For what it is worth, I cannot get option 2 to work. I think our long term solution will be to implement an internal SSL infrastructure, but we are going to try option 1 until we have the SSL infrastructure in place.
