VMware V-center Server

Hi All,

What is the recommended practise for a VMware v-center server. Should that be a physical server or a VM Guest?

Well , thanks for the information. The document says it can be either physical or vm guest.

I would like to understand a scenario where if in real time anybody is using V-Centre server as physical machine and what is the strategy used to recover incase if that physical machine is crashed.

If the V-Centre server is a VM guest, atleast it can be cloned and one copy can be kept always, so in a scenario of where a physical v-centre is being used how are these being considered.

Welcome to the Forums - One thing to keep in mind is that all information about your vCenter environment is stored in the vCenter database - so make sure that the database is backed up regularly. If that is in place you can maintain a virtualized version of physical vCenter server and only power it on if the physical fails - or if it is virtualized you can take advantage of VMware HA if the host the VM is on fails -
