Hi
What if in a HA/DRS cluster all ESX servers service console go out of network for sometime.
What would happen to the VM's running on them in the below cases?
Case 1:
Host Isolation respone = Power Off
Host Monitoring = Enabled
Case 2:
Host Isolation respone = Leave Power On
Host Monitoring = Enabled
And in which case the HA will restart the VM's on other Host ?
I've guess I know the answer but want to verify it.
Thanks
Sam
If the full network goes down in these instances:
Case 1:
Host Isolation respone = Power Off
Host Monitoring = Enabled
Host gets powered down.
Case 2:
Host Isolation respone = Leave Power On
Host Monitoring = Enabled
Host stays running.
In both instances, your host thinks it is isolated - so behaves like an isolation.
BTW that host isolation response is for the VM's & not for the host itself as in what will happen to the VM's running on the host when host is in isolated state & NOT what will happen to the host when it's in isolated state.
What I need to know is if in a HA/DRS cluster
Case
Host Isolation response = Shutdown
& Host monitoring is enabled
Now if Host service console loses network connectivity i.e. host is in isolation state.
What will happen? As per Hoost isolation response the VM's should shutdown but then when HA will happen to reboot the servers on other ESX of a cluster ?
VM will be guest shutdown on the isolated host.
Then, VM that was powered on will be restarted on other nodes.
