VM vCenter 2.5 Update 4 - Failed login to db server

Hi community,

we are upgrading from U3 to U4, installing from local disk (zip version).

Asoon as we come to the database screen with the database parameters we enter the credentials (ODBC data source name (default), username (default) and password: NO WAY; it says credentials are invalid.

Of course we checked data source, inserting the same parameters, and everything goes fine and the test connection is successful; we even tried to create a new datasource: same result.

Last time, when upgrading from U2 to U3, we moved database from local to an external sql server. We checked through the registry to find references to the old database: nothing.

We cannot explain whyit does not accept credentials (unless it is not using the data from the ODBC but from a local file pointing to the old Db, since credentials are correct).

Any sugestions where to look for ?

Proper error is: Setup failed to connect to the database pointed by the given DSN. Please make sure that you have proper permissions to access your database.

Checked db: VirtualCenter login is db_owner for database.... BTW: current installation is working with same credentials with no issue accessing database....
