We are using vCenter4.0.0 build 208111 deploying a Win2003 x64 Std template to ESX 3.5 U4 hosts - HP BL460c G1 & G6. The template is identical but the hosts have different cpu speeds.
When deploying the template the cpu type speed is dependant on whichever host the template is originally deployed to. ie If deployed to a host with 3.0GHz cpu then windows always reports the VM having a 3.0GHz CPU even if the VM migrates to a host with a 1.86GHz CPU. VMTools is up to date on all VMs and EVC is enabled for intel CPUs in the cluster.
Is this a problem and will it have an detrimental impact on performance in any way??
