What is the easiest way to definitively determine a VM's creation date? Also, for bulk results for many VM's. Currently running ESX 3.0.2 Build 134609 VCS 2.0.2 Build 104182 (Update 5)
Found the following on expert-exchange. I don't have a VC 2.0 server to experiment with to try this out.
"The creation Date of the VM is of course stored on the DB as a seperate field. Its stored in VPX_EVENT table as CREATETIME field. Even i found a way to find the creation date of VM's. Its given here,
1. List out all the VM Details from VPX_EVENT table by event "vmBeingCreated", "vmBeingDeployed"
2. Copy the details to excel sheet.
3. Filter the VM Name by unique option selected. This will take the first entry of the VM Name and avoid multiple entries.
4. Now you compare the list with the VPX_ENTITY table which has the current VM details.
5. Take the common ones out by doing a string compare operation.
You have the list of current VM in Virtualcenter with creation date :)"
