I wanted to post this in the event this helps another person out there.
Prior to upgrading to vSphere, we never had a problem with the VIC console either running locally on our pc or remotely on a server via RDP.
But after vSphere, we were only able to see the console screens when we ran the vic on our local pc. Suddently we could only see a blank or black screen when RDP'd into a server. Now mind you there was nothing changed except for vsphere / vic installed. We could even see the console window resize if we rebooted etc. and there had been no errors. We even contacted vmware support and just pushed to a KB and try many different things which nothing made a difference.
Then I finally got a reply from a user on these forums from many months ago. The issue is that we had been connecting to the remote server using a 256 color depth. After changing the color depth before connecting to the remote server via RDP, we could not clearly see the remote console window.
