VCenter for Essentials Server compared with stardard or foundation

hi

what is the difference in components/functionality between VCenter for Essentials Server and standard or foundation editions???  

is there any?

In terms of underlying software it is eactly the same  - it is the license that limits the functionality of vCenter - this document compares the functinality of the different licenses http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vsphere_pricing.pdf.

ONe of the major differences is the Essential bundles cap the number of ESXi hosts yu can manage with a vcenter licensed with an essentials bundle to 3 ESXi hosts

The only real difference I am aware of is that vCenter Foundation can manage vSphere Standard, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus licenses, whereas vCenter Essentials can ONLY manage Essentials licenses either purchased ala carte or in an Essentials Plus bundle.  However both vCenter Essentials and Foundation are limited to managing no more than 3 dual-proc hosts (6 processors).
