VCSA 5.5 to 6.0 Upgrade with vSphere Distributed Switch

Hey all,

So we are finally upgrading our vCenter from 5.5 as far as we can go. Our first hurdle is 5.5 to 6.0.

We have a dvSwitch with VLAN and this seems to be causing an issue in the upgrade process.

When running the upgrade GUI and selecting the "Temporary Network" for the new vCenter server and legacy vCenter server to communicate, the VLANs do not show in the drop down. Only the "VM Network" standard switch is selectable.

The upgrade seems to fail when the new server needs to communicate the the legacy server even with both on the VM Network standard switch.

I have scoured for any information regarding the upgrade with the dvSwitch in place.. but alas here I am.

If anyone can assist I would be eternally grateful.

I managed to resolve the problem myself. It's kind of dumb... but it works.

After the upgrade process creates and boots the VM, I edited the NIC settings and changed it the the correct VLAN network on the dvSwtich.

Then the migration process ran smoothly.
