Hello.

You can use kb 1003926 as a starting point.

Good Luck!

vmroyale,

I got it, the kb explains troubleshooting steps I agree they are helpful.

I am interested to know,

what are top few reasons might cause VC service to crash

if this has happened in past can we figure it out from vpxd logs?

I would lik eto know all this in perspective of finding root cause why vc service had crashed

thanks,

v

post here logs of vcenter,

you don´t have any logs in Windows about Service of Vcenter ?

The logs are located in %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Logs, which translates to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VirtualCenter\logs in Windows 2003 and C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\Logs in Windows 2008.

Yes . All of the VC's activities are logged in the machine in which you have VC installed. Simply get to the folder containing the vpxd logs (it varies depending on the guest OS) and look for log entries around the time it crashed . Please also note that the logs get rolled out if you restart the VC and continue using it.The amount of space for logging is limited,so VC overwrites logs like in a circular datastructure. Do collect vc-support in case of a crash immidiately.
